Pollen People: Lizzie Packham
A much-loved local institution, Bristol City Yoga host a multitude of weekly classes, workshops and events as well as complementary therapy treatments. We caught up with Studio Manager, Lizzie Packham, to discuss her role and how the Yoga Studio are expanding over the coming months. Based in Pollen Place (Stokes Croft), Bristol City Yoga have been with us since April 2016.
What do you love most about your work? Knowing that all the emails and admin I do turns into to amazing yoga classes, workshops, retreats and events which students leave feeling calm and happy.
What new projects has the Yoga Studio got lined up? We’re in the process of re-branding which is very exciting, so look out for our new logo. Also we will be opening up our Therapy Room on Wednesday mornings as a quiet practice space for meditation. We’re always planning new and exciting workshops, inviting guest teachers and adding new classes to our timetable.
What is the most popular class, workshop or treatment? Our Restorative Afternoons are very popular, you get to lie down and relax using all of the blankets and bolsters, it’s heaven.
How has being at Pollen Place (Stokes Croft) helped the Studio grow? Before we moved into Pollen Place we were working in what is now our male changing room, it’s a great changing room but not a good office space. Now we have natural light, proper desks and a great atmosphere to work in. We also met our web designer Kaine (Kaine Shutler Ltd) and we know exactly where to find him when we need help.
Outside of work, what is the thing you most love about Bristol? I love being surrounded by grassroots projects and initiatives – the local producers and small businesses, charities and support networks. It takes the edge off of city life, making a big city feel warmer and more like a small town.
You guys have the most exotic tea collection out of anyone at Pollen Place. What’s your favourite flavour? Earl Grey Rooibos, it’s so good.
